Using the Adobe Create Magazine article “A Catalogue Of Imaginary Beings”:

Astronaut Spartacus was built using “A Catalogue Of Imaginary Beings” as the inspiration.

This composite image made by builing Layers of each important object. Selections were made sometimes with the selection tool and in other cases the pen tool, then sizing the different image layers to fit.

Images were either taken with camera, the “A Catalogue Of Imaginary Beings”, or the Internet (for example the moon came from the NASA website).

NOTE: Always build your image file when starting the project to the format of the canvas size you wish to print (i.e. 8" x 10', 14" x 11") to minimize auto cropping at the time of print.

Background: Make your own border for printing photo - copy all the layers, merge the copied layers. Use the Rectangular Marquee Tool to mask the outer edge of the layer, then apply the mask to the layer.

Foreground: Copy the masked layer, then size down the copied layer. Add a Layer Style under Blending Options: Bevel and Emboss (Style: Pillow Emboss, Technique: Chisel Hard, Size: 38, Soften: 8 - experiment with these selections).

Background: You may Warp, or Puppet Warp the larger merged background layer to match the foreground - warping should be minimal.
